Welcome to Stylized Station’s Legends of Valhalla Art Contest!
An intense art competition where the brave souls of our community have ONE MONTH to create a Valhalla/Viking themed 3D Scene. This competition is completely open to everyone who wants a taste of battle, glory, and their fair share of prizes.
Whether it be a Valkyrie Warrior from Asgard, Ragnar’s legendary weapon, or a glimpse into the horrors of Helheim itself, anything and everything surrounding the lore of the Vikings is up for grabs.
We will judge your entry on the overall presentation with the theme in mind. Bonus points awarded to technical skill and extra details. Please have your final artwork on ArtStation submitted to #challenge-submissions by November 9 at 11:59 pm, EST! Contest rules, Deliverables & Deadlines can be found below.
The top three submissions will be showcased on the official Stylized Station YouTube channel and social media.
Most importantly, this competition is supposed to be FUN. Come hang out with the community, give advice to people who need it, and enjoy the amazing community that is Stylized Station.

What is Valhalla?
In Norse mythology, Valhalla is a majestic and enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin.
Chosen by Odin and led by the valkyries, half of those who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death. The other half go to the goddess Freyja’s field Fólkvangr, another legendary place in Viking lore.
In Valhalla, the dead warriors join the masses of those who have died in combat (known as the Einherjar) and various legendary Germanic heroes and kings, as they prepare to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök.
Before the hall stands the golden tree Glasir, and the hall’s ceiling is thatched with golden shields. Various creatures live around Valhalla, such as the stag Eikþyrnir and the goat Heiðrún, both described as standing atop Valhalla and consuming the foliage of the tree Læraðr.

Contest Rules
Deliverables:
-Your submission must be created using any 3D digital software of your choice.
-Your final submission MUST consist of one(1) final render and an additional 1-3 image breakdown showcasing your scene’s wireframe, UV Unwraps, textures and high/low poly screenshots. Marmoset/Sketchfab submissions will also be accepted for the wireframe component of the submission.
-At least ONE work in progress image MUST be posted in the #challenge-workshop channel of the official Stylized Station Discord before the end of the challenge deadline.
-Your final submission must be posted in the form of an Artstation link to the #challenge-submissions channel of the Stylized Station Discord before the final deadline, November 9th, 2020 @ 11:59 EST

Prize Distribution
Contest winners will be immediately contacted on Discord and Artstation by Stylized Station to determine which platform they would like to receive their key for Assassins Creed: Valhalla (PC, Xbox or Playstation) Contest winners will also receive a coupon for 100% off the 3D Artist’s Coloring Book, and a .ZIP file containing all of the Stylized Station Stylized Smart Material Packages. Experience Points will also contact winners to distribute their prizes to the winners.

Judging Criteria
For every art competition Stylized Station runs, we judge your entry based on the following criteria. While we will not disclose the specific critiques and point totals for each entry, you may request an informal critique after the challenge has ended where the judges will provide a summarized critique of your entry.
Judging Criteria:
Each bullet point is worth 5 points for a sum total for 50 points.
Themes (10 points) :
- How well does the entry reflect the challenge’s theme?
- How well researched is your scene?
Craftsmanship (20 points):
- Does the entry have an appealing and readable design?
- Does the entry make use of art fundamentals like color, composition and shape language?
- Does the entry use stylized principles like over exaggeration and lack of microdetails?
- Does the entry display proper use of presentation and lighting?
Technical skills (10 points):
- Does the entry show a proper use of geometry (clean topology, well optimized model, no faceting, smooth curves) and texture space (high resolution textures)?
- Does the entry use high quality renders (high resolution images, no shading errors)?
Uniqueness (10 points):
- How unique and creative is the entry when compared to the other entries?
- Does the entry showcase exceptional skills like hand-painting, VFX, animation, etc?
Community Scene
Continuing from the successful collaboration of our last community scene, this one will be a bit more ambitious. We will use the submission assets to create our own ArtCraft settlement in Unreal Engine. If you are interested in competing, please contact one of the Overseers, and we will add you to the project channel.
